At the end of eighth grade year I was faced with a difficult decision of what high school I wanted to go to. Ventura, Buena, or Foothill. I wanted to make my parents proud. I preferred to go to Foothill. My parents were thrilled to hear that I wanted to attend foothill. My parents and I have heard many great things about Foothill. For that reason we both knew that I would have many great opportunities at Foothill to get into a good college. When I first put in my application to go to foothill I was anxious. I wanted to get in and I was nervous about grades and friends. All of my friends were either going to Buena or Ventura. But I decided to let that go because I wanted what was best for me and I want to make my parents proud.
At orientation my FIRE mentors made me feel more confident. We played games to learn people’s names, they walked with us to all of our classes also, and they told us what a little bit about what being a student at Foothill would be like. Now we’re five weeks into school and I couldn't be happier with my decision to come to foothill. It’s such a great school. I have lots of friends, my parents are proud of how well I’m doing, and I love my teachers.
